Is Subnautica Multiplayer? The short answer is no; Subnautica is primarily a solo experience. However, the dedicated community has crafted a solution - the Nitrox mod. This mod transforms the game into a co-op multiplayer adventure, allowing players to explore the treacherous ocean depths together.

Is Nitrox compatible with Subnautica: Below Zero? Currently the Nitrox mod only works with the base game of Subnautica.

In fact, the game was originally conceived of as a co-op experience. However, as we started to develop the game, we skipped multiplayer to be able to release the game faster. Now we find ourselves in a difficult situation: we all really want co-op player, but adding it would take us many months of work.

Early Access: A Glimpse into 2025

According to the official financial report, Subnautica 3 is set to launch in early 2025. However, whispers in the community suggest the possibility of an early access release in 2024, offering players an early taste of the submerged adventure.

Below Zero is a single-player experience. We will not be adding multiplayer or co-op.

The narrative is strong but can feel out of place at times. If you played the original part and you enjoyed it, Below Zero is a good choice. For those who once had enough, there is probably no need to play again. The sequel takes the best from the original game and adds something new.
