One thing I can’t miss during the colder months of the year are lemon ginger shots. Not only are they immunity-boosting, yet I love the taste and the spicy ginger kick they leave in your mouth!

I discovered wellness shots for the first time while traveling. Switzerland is always a little behind on food trends (or trends in general), so it might not come to anybody’s surprise that I discovered the first wellness shot only about two years ago in a store here in Switzerland.

This and the fact that those shots are quite expensive, I love preparing my ginger shots at home.

Easy Homemade Lemon Ginger Shot Recipe

This easy recipe for homemade apple and ginger shot can be prepared on the weekend or an evening when you have some time. If you keep it refrigerated and stored in a glass bottle, this ginger lemon shot stays fresh for at least one week.

Nowadays, you can find plenty of ginger shot varieties in the supermarket or in sandwich shops. My favorite one is the Ginger Shot from Pret a Manger. Unfortunately, there is no Pret a Manger in Switzerland, so I have to make ginger shots at home.

But, let me say this. Those shots are super expensive if you buy them! You can easily make them at home with only a handful of ingredients and save lots of money.

The recipe is no secret, and while some are made with a slow juicer, you can easily make it with or even without a blender at home.

Let me show you how to make a ginger shot at home! Your wallet and body may thank me for it!

  • If you never had ginger shots before, those are quite intense. You can add more water or sweetener to adjust it to your taste.

How To Make A Ginger Shot Without A Blender

No worries, there is an easy fix if you don’t have a blender at home.

  • Replace the apple and water with 1 cup (240ml) apple juice.
  • Furthermore, you need to grate your ginger using a Zester. You can use any grater, but I love the Zester from Microplane, as it grates the ginger super thin and soft. A zester is also suitable to grate garlic, muscat nut, chocolate, and so much more!
  • Add all ingredient in a shaker or glass bottle and shake well until you have a nicely combined drink.
