The Port of Roatan was Roatan’s first cruise ship port, opening in 2008 to welcome visitors from all around the world. Today, the port welcomes thousands of visitors daily to explore our beautiful island. If you’re coming to Port of Roatan cruise port and taking a Jolly Roger Roatan shore excursion, here’s what you need to know.
Port of Roatan Cruise Port
If you’re joining us for a sailing and snorkeling tour while in Roatan, we will pick you up directly at the port. Ships in the Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity families all dock at Port of Roatan.
The Port of Roatan is located in Coxen Hole, which is the capital of the Bay Islands. The Bay Islands of Honduras consist of three large islands (Roatan, Utila, and Guanaja), plus a multitude of other smaller islands and cays. Roatan is the largest of the Bay Islands and hosts daily visitors at two cruise ports.
Coxen Hole is primarily a commercial hub, with banks, government offices, schools, hospitals, and other local shopping areas throughout the town. While Coxen Hole isn’t a main tourist attraction in Roatan, it is a transportation hub so many visitors arrive through here.
Not only is the Port of Roatan located in Coxen Hole, but Roatan’s international airport is also located here. That means that if you want to come back for a longer visit to Roatan, you can fly in directly from several U.S. and Canadian cities!

If you’re joining us on Jolly Roger Roatan Catamaran Sailing and Snorkeling, we will pick you up directly at the cruise ship pier. Once you disembark, you’ll immediately see shore excursion personnel with signs for each tour. Be on the lookout for our sign so you can fill out your necessary paperwork and get to the fun stuff!
Once we have our full group, we will board our private vans to head to our Jolly Roger catamarans. Depending on the weather and the best snorkeling sites for the day, we will either head to the Jolly Roger Marina or to our designated dock on the northwest side of the island.
The Port of Roatan also offers visitors plenty of entertainment and shopping options. Once you return from our shore excursion, you may still have time to do some local shopping or to grab a drink before boarding your cruise ship.
