Understanding how to conjugate verbs is an essential component of learning a foreign language. Conjugation refers to breaking down different verb forms to express tense, mood, person, and number. The Spanish language uses two moods when conjugating verbs: the indicative and subjunctive moods.
People use the indicative mood to talk about facts and certainties, while the subjunctive mood reflects uncertainties, hopes, and opinions. There are also several tenses used with both moods: the present, preterite, imperfect and conditional tenses, as well as the future tense.
One important Spanish verb to learn in these tenses is ver, or "to see." Ver is an example of an irregular verb in Spanish. This means that the endings of the verb in different tenses possess unusual spellings when compared to regular verbs, which have predictable endings.
Aside from its common use as "to see" in Spanish, ver also has other contextual uses. Ver in Spanish, for example, is used when talking about watching a movie or checking on something. For example, yo veo una pelicula means "I watch a movie," and tengo que ver el tiempo translates into "I have to check the time."
Ver conjugations in different tenses are associated with uses of the verb in the past, present, and future. When using ver in the perfect tense, this verb talks about things that people currently see or check on, such as yo veo and tú ves, or "I see" and "you see."
In the preterite tense, the verb expresses things people see in the past. For instance, yo vi and tú viste means "I saw" and "you saw.'"The ''ver'' imperfect tense possesses a close relationship with the preterite or past tense conjugation. Speakers use the imperfect tense to talk about things that they used to see.
The conditional and future tenses also share a close relationship in terms of their uses. The conditional tense describes things that may happen in the future, such as yo vería, or "I would see." In the future tense, people use ver to talk about things that will occur in the future. Therfore, there are two conjugations of ver: the indicative future and subjunctive future tenses.
