Get ready for the best Sauce for Sweet Potato Fries

While sweet potato fries are my go-to side dish and appetizer of choice, the dipping sauces are where it's at! From game day tailgates to backyard BBQs to drinks and snacks with friends, these homemade sweet potato fries with four types of dipping sauces is a must.

The fry sauce lineup:

We have a chipotle aioli which is my personal favorite and goes with practically anything and everything (especially fries). I like to make it with avocado oil mayo but regular mayo will work too!

Then there is the effortless yogurt ranch sauce which is great when buffalo chicken wings are involved in the snacking party too.

The hot honey mustard is a must for game day watching and is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy.

The maple cinnamon yogurt sauce is a game changer for sure. It's the sweetest dip of the bunch and absolutely heavenly with a warm sweet potato fry.

Sweet Potato Fries Sauce Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Mayonnaise - This is used in the aioli. Either avocado oil mayo or regular or light mayo will work.
  • Yogurt - I used a 0% fat plain greek yogurt for the sauces. Any type of yogurt will work though, just make sure it's plain and unsweetened.
  • Ranch seasoning - Used to make the yogurt ranch sauce. I used the ranch seasoning from Trader Joes and the Hidden Valley Dip Mix works well too.
  • Mustard - This is the base of the hot honey mustard. Dijon mustard or spicy brown mustard for a spicy kick will work.
  • Honey - Also used in the hot honey mustard. Swap this with agave or date nectar to make the sauce vegan.
  • Maple syrup - Pure maple syrup is best. I like the kind from Trader Joes or Costco.

How to make Sweet Potato Fries Dipping Sauce

You will need four small bowls and a platter for serving.

Step 1 : Prepare the dipping sauces. Each dipping sauce is fairly straight forward to make. Simply mix all the dip ingredients in separate serving bowls well with a spoon.

Step 2 : Assemble and serve! When it comes to hosting, the serving platter is very important. The good news it doesn't have to be fancy! I used a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper for easy clean up.

First place the small bowls with the dipping sauces on your platter then fill in the empty spaces with the warm sweet potato fries and dig in!

Best way to serve Dip for Sweet Potato Fries

These dipping sauces will make about ½ cup each so a small shallow bowl should be just the right size for each of the different flavor combinations. My favorite way to serve these dipping sauces is on a baking sheet with fresh warm sweet potato fries scattered in the middle. Start by placing the small bowls on the baking sheet and then add the sweet potato fries around them so it’s easy for people to pick up a few fries and dip away!

As with most finger food, I highly recommend having some small plates and napkins off to the side for guest to use.

How to store Dipping Sauce for Sweet Potato Fries

If you have leftover dipping sauces, either wrap the bowl in plastic wrap tightly or transfer the sauces to separate containers and store in the fridge. When ready to enjoy, give the sauces a few mixes with a spoon.

Sweet Potato Fry Dipping Sauce FAQs

What goes with fries besides ketchup?

Sweet potato fries pair well with just about flavor which leaves the dipping possibilities endless. A creamy yogurt-based sauce like a cinnamon yogurt is always a hit as well as something spicy like a chipotle aioli.
